Southampton are reportedly interested in signing West Bromwich Albion winger Tom Fellows.

That's according to Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel, who reports that the Saints are weighing up a potential £10 million bid for Fellows as they continue to strengthen their squad for the Premier League.

However, Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox claims that while the Baggies are braced for interest in Fellows before Friday's transfer deadline, they have "no plans" to sell the 21-year-old, and they value him "much higher" than £10 million.

After returning from a loan spell at Crawley Town in League Two last summer, Fellows has become an increasingly influential part of the Albion first team, and he played an important role as Carlos Corberan's side reached the play-offs last season.

Fellows' strong form has continued into the new season, with the winger providing three assists in his first three appearances this campaign, including setting up both goals in the 2-1 win at Stoke City on Saturday.

West Brom told to demand £15 million for Tom Fellows

FLW's West Brom fan pundit Callum Burgess admits he is concerned by reports of Southampton's interest in Fellows, and he urged the club to demand at least £15 million for the England Under-20 international.

"Seeing a team come in for Tom Fellows is probably the news that most West Brom fans would have been fearing for the entire summer," Callum said.

"Obviously we are in a better financial position than we were at the start of the summer after we sold the likes of Yokuslu, Townsend and Thomas-Asante, but £10 million would be really appreciated for anyone at the club at the moment, so that's my worry.

"He's already got three assists this season, we saw against Stoke how important he is.

"He did that clever trick where he got past the defender and chipped it back to the back post for Grant's goal, and his cut backs lead to a good chance almost every single time he gets down that wing. "I think he's up there with some of the best wingers in the division and if he does go, it will be a massive loss for us. "No matter who we bring in during the rest of the window, I really doubt that they'll be able to have the impact that Tom Fellows has on this side. "I could see us considering that £10 million offer, but I'd like to see us hold out for more and be really firm with them and demand at least £15m.

"He's got a lot of potential, he can go on to become a really big player, but that £10 million bid has got me worried."

Many Baggies supporters will likely share Callum's fears as reports of interest in Fellows begin to emerge, particularly given the club's precarious financial situation.

Albion are currently under an EFL-imposed business plan as they look to avoid a breach of PSR rules, and they have sold a number of key players this summer in order to raise funds, including Conor Townsend, Okay Yokuslu and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

However, as Callum says, those sales have put the Baggies in a better financial position, and should Fellows continue his development, he may be worth significantly more than £10 million in the future, so the club may decide against cashing in on him for now.

Fellows has become a crucial part of head coach Carlos Corberan's plans at The Hawthorns, and it would undoubtedly be a huge blow to Albion's promotion hopes if he was to depart before the end of the window.
