So far, Manchester United look like they are getting Matheus Cunha, Chelsea set to capture Liam Delap, whist Liverpool yesterday signed Jeremie Frimpong and are reportedly close to signing his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz .

We are seeing many of the same old links – Marc Guehi, Bryan Mbeumo, James Trafford etc all rumoured to be top targets , but no reported formal approach or offer to date yet.

Who really knows who Newcastle United are actually looking at?

In truth, the media are clueless.

As Newcastle United fans we can only speculate.

In my opinion, the easier players to sign are ones who have active release clauses, or players who are at a clubs in a vulnerable position, who are open to selling, maybe due to PSR issues.

That brings to me Aston Villa.

Widespread reports claim they are needing to sell potentially two or three players in June to prevent going beyond three year PSR loss limits.

In my opinion, there are players at Villa Park who would be easier to sign at this moment in time than the heavily linked Marc Guehi and Bryan Mbeumo.

Would you be in favour of raiding Aston Villa and strengthening the Newcastle United squad, plus weakening theirs?

I would be in favour, for the right players.

Newcastle United have been regularly linked in the past with Jacob Ramsey. A very good up and coming player in my opinion. We could potentially get him for a good fee, given Villa’s weak position and needing to sell. I

Aston Villa appear to be in the exact same position we were, when were forced to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, to Brighton and Nottingham forest respectively.

Could we do the same to Aston Villa?

Are there other clubs in a similar situation? Quite possibly.

Those Eddie Howe comments on wanting early transfer business done, could well see a signing or two arrive in the very near future.
