Aston Villa have held talks with Chelsea over a potential deal to sign Nicolas Jackson.
Unai Emery’s team have had a quiet start to the transfer window but the £43m sale of Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United has provided funds. Ramsey completed his move to Newcastle over the weekend, with the sale of the academy graduate boosting the club’s PSR position.
Jackson is a player of interest, with Emery having worked alongside the Senegalese striker at former club Villarreal.
Chelsea will consider offers for the 24-year-old, following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer. A high valuation could lead Villa to look at alternative targets, but Sky Sports are reporting that initial conversations have taken place.
Villa want to bring in another centre-forward to compete with Ollie Watkins. Both Donyell Malen and Evann Guessand can deputise centrally but are primarily wide forwards.
Bayern Munich have also ‘gathered information’ on the conditions of a deal for Jackson but are unlikely to pursue a deal. The German champions are instead focused on signing the forward’s Chelsea teammate, Christopher Nkunku.
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal for a fee of £32m in 2023. He has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the West Londoners and helped the side to Europa Conference League success last season.
