Away to Angers, the 2022 World Champion once again set up a goal for Kylian Mbappé, playing the Parisian No.7 in behind the defence with what was his tenth assist for the Frenchman this season. With a total of 15 assists so far this season, Messi has already beaten his mark from the last campaign and now has a total of 29 in just two seasons of Ligue 1 Uber Eats football.

His assist on Friday also put him in a very tight circle; with 15 goals and 15 assists in the league this season, Messi became just the third player to reach both marks in a single Ligue 1 Uber Eats season since the official assist rankings were created. He thus follows on from Eden Hazard in 2011-12 with LOSC (20 goals, 15 assists) and Kylian Mbappé in 2021-22 with PSG (28 goals, 17 assists).
