The January transfer window has only been open for a matter of hours in Serie A, but two midfielders in Arthur Melo of Juventus and Enzo Le Fee of Roma already have three clubs preparing for a January transfer merry-go-round according to Thursday’s reports.
According to updates from Calciomercato.com, Real Betis are on the lookout for a new midfielder this month, and had been pushing for a deal with Juventus for Arthur, who has not been used at all in Serie A this campaign.
However, those negotiations have reportedly slowed down, as Juventus were expecting Betis to cover the player’s heft salary in full, while Betis were hoping that Juventus would continue to cover some part of the player’s wage.
Arthur reportedly takes home around €5m per season on his current deal, which equates to just over €2.5m net for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, or €4.5m gross.
If Betis and Juve are unable to reach an agreement over a loan deal for Arthur, the LaLiga side could reportedly turn their attention in the direction of Roma’s Le Fee, who could also be made available for transfer in January after a disappointing start to life at the Stadio Olimpico.
If Roma allow Le Fee to leave for Betis, then they themselves could turn to Arthur to replace him, according to Calciomercato’s reports.
