Mikel Arteta has said Bukayo Saka ‘has the power to lift the stadium’ for Arsenal after his return from injury.
Saka made his return from injury with a late winner against Fulham earlier this month, having been sidelined since December with a hamstring injury. The 23-year-old has 16 goals and assists in 16 league appearances for Arsenal this season and Arteta is delighted to have the winger back among his options.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Brentford this weekend, Arteta said Saka brings ‘a level of threat and unpredictability that probably no other player can provide’ to his team.
“He is very important. He gives us a level of threat and unpredictability that probably no other player can provide, especially with the connection that he has built in and around the team.
“He has the power to lift the stadium which is incredible because shifting the energy in a stadium is something that is really difficult to do and when a player is able to do that, that is a great quality to have.
“He is so humble, very committed to the club and has very deep roots connected to this football club. I am very glad to hear that he wants to stay with us and win with us.”
Arsenal return to league action after a stunning success in Europe in midweek. The Gunners thrashed Real Madrid to take control of their Champions League quarter-final but Arteta wants his team to return full focus to the Premier League campaign.
“There has been an unbelievable energy around the place. It was a very special night. That’s over and now our full focus is on Brentford because it is a game that will require the best of us.”
