Arsenal are in talks with Belgium international attacking midfielder Leandro Trossard over a new contract, according to the Daily Mail.

The 29-year-old has impressed since joining the Gunners from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023, and they now want to reward him with a significant pay increase.

Trossard signed a four-year deal when he joined Arsenal and currently earns around £90,000 a week.

He is set to earn above £100,000 weekly if both parties can reach an agreement.

The attacker was on Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad’s radar in the summer, with a verbal proposal in the region of €35m tabled, but the Gunners insisted he was not for sale at any price.

Trossard has played 83 games since joining the club, weighing in with 20 goals and 13 assists.

He is on course to surpass the return of 25 goals and 14 assists he contributed in 121 games while with the Seagulls, and he deserves a new deal.

Trossard’s versatility has come in handy, with his ability to play across the three front positions and even behind the striker a quality manager Mikel Arteta has often utilised.

Arsenal want him to commit the best of the rest of his career to the club, and both parties are expected to reach an agreement in the coming months.

Trossard has often expressed his desire to play regularly, but his impact off the bench has been instrumental to the recent successes they have enjoyed in the last two seasons.

He has what it takes to establish himself ahead of Gabriel Martinelli in the pecking order, and it would not be surprising if he forces his way into the starting XI permanently.
