Arsenal have been informed that £35m of Eberechi Eze’s £67.5m release clause would need to be paid in full to sign the Crystal Palace midfielder this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side are in negotiations with Crystal Palace over a deal to sign the England international. Eze has a release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park and the FA Cup winners will not allow him to leave for less.

Arsenal have been informed that £35m of that fee will need to be paid immediately. The Guardian are reporting the remainder of the initial £60m fee can be paid in instalments, with a potential further £7.5m in add-ons.

Eze is keen on the move to Arsenal after five seasons with the Eagles. He scored 14 goals in a career-best campaign in 2024/25, including the FA Cup final winner against Manchester City as Palace won a first-ever major trophy.

The 27-year-old’s release clause expires before the start of the Premier League season on August 15th, though that situation does not impact Palace’s valuation of the player.

Oliver Glasner’s side will not accept less than the £67.5m figure, with Queens Park Rangers entitled to 20% of the profit Palace make on their £17m investment in 2020.

Arsenal could look to recoup funds through sales. Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson are expected to depart, while Leandro Trossard has received approaches from two unnamed Premier League teams. Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the Belgian.
