Arsenal have targeted Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi as they are on the lookout for a new back-up goalkeeper to replace Norberto Neto, whose contract will expire next summer.
After being in contention with Juan Musso for a place in goal last season, the 24-year-old has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper in Gasperini’s side this campaign, delivering some impressive displays that drew interest from the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side are willing to bring in a reliable option when Neto leaves the Emirates Stadium next summer, and Tuttosport reported that they have set sight on Carnesecchi, who should fight for a starting place with David Raya.
However, Arsenal are likely to face Atalanta’s reluctance to sell one of their key players, but they believe the fact that their relationship with the Italian goalie’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, who also represents Riccardo Calafiori, may simplify transfer talks.

Lucci already oversaw the defender’s move from Bologna to the London giants last summer and could once again play a crucial role in helping the Gunners find an agreement with La Dea.
Despite a relatively limited experience in the Italian top tier, Carnesecchi is currently regarded as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Serie A, having mustered five clean sheets this season and nine in the previous one.
