Arsenal reject approach for Gabriel Jesus | OneFootball

Brazilian side Palmeiras made an attempt to re-sign Gabriel Jesus, but Arsenal shut down the possibility, ruling out a move for the striker due to his key role at the club.

According to a report from Globo Esporte, Palmeiras recently contacted Arsenal to explore the possibility of bringing Gabriel Jesus back to the club.

However, Arsenal firmly rejected the approach, making it clear that they have no intention of parting ways with the 27-year-old striker.

The Brazilian club was hoping to bring back their former player, particularly with the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on the horizon.

Palmeiras were exploring a potential loan deal but also discovered that Jesus’ high salary—around £265,000 per week—made any return highly unlikely. His wage far exceed what even the highest-earning clubs in Brazil can afford, effectively ruling out the move.

Gabriel Jesus, who signed for Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 for a fee of €52 million, has been hampered by injuries this season.

He has played eight games so far, only starting three, and is yet to contribute a goal or assist. Despite these struggles, Mikel Arteta still views Jesus as a key member of the squad, especially after his contribution of eight goals and eight assists last season.

Although Palmeiras fans have long hoped for a reunion, it appears the move is not possible at this time.

However, the club remains optimistic that a return could happen in the future.

Jesus remains a beloved figure at Palmeiras, where he began his career and helped the team win major domestic titles before moving to Europe.
