Marc Casado enjoyed his breakthrough season at FC Barcelona under Hansi Flick, establishing himself as a key player during the injury-enforced absences of Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal.

The La Masia midfielder did lose some prominence in the latter half of the season once De Jong returned while an injury meant he missed close to two months of action.

Now with Gavi fully fit and Marc Bernal set to be back in action next season, Casado’s role in the team might take a further hit.

Arsenal ready to move

Hoping to capitalise on that are Premier League giants Arsenal, who are preparing a €40 million offer to sign Casado from Barcelona according to Fichajes.

As per the report, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has personally identified Casadó as a strategic reinforcement.

The Spanish coach believes the 21-year-old midfielder fits well with his playing philosophy: young, disciplined, tactically aware, and strong in ball recovery.

The objective at the Emirates is to reinforce the core of the midfield before targeting a striker signing. Within that plan, Casado has become a priority objective.

With Thomas Partey set to leave, the Gunners are considering pairing Casado another summer signing with Martin Zubimendi.

Barcelona not ruling out a sale

For now, Casado has not requested a transfer from Barcelona, but he is aware that the current situation is not favourable.

As for Barça, they do not rule out his departure if such a solid offer does arrive. Casado is under contract until 2028, but a €40 million sale would be viewed as a financially beneficial operation that would not significantly affect the team’s structure.

The final decision rests with sporting director Deco, who must weigh the choice between betting on the player’s development or cashing in.
