That means interested parties will have to wait until next summer and Premier League giants Arsenal are prepared to re-enter the race.

With so much focus on the link to Barcelona, rival clubs have faded, but the Gunners are open to activating his €58m release clause in 2025.

As per the latest update from The Independent, there will be no move in the final days of the window, with the focus on wrapping up a deal to bring in Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.
