Arsenal target Nico Williams delivered a fantastic performance during Spain’s 4-1 win over Georgia in the last-16 of the European Championship last night.

The 21-year-old had a brilliant 2023/24 season at Athletic Bilbao, bagging eight goals and 19 assists in 37 appearances.

The Spaniard has continued his form in Germany. He was exceptional against Georgia as La Roja came from behind to register a comfortable win.

Williams started on the left wing and showed his class with a passing accuracy of 100 percent (46/46). He scored a splendid goal before delivering a quality assist.

The Bilbao graduate created four big chances in the game while attempting five shots. He also won four duels and made four recoveries in a flawless display for Spain.

Williams’ reputation has been enhanced over the past season. Interest in him is bound to increase over the coming weeks amid his standout performances at Euro 2024.

He is currently on the Gunners’s shortlist and manager Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to sign him if the hierarchy allows him to sign another winger.

Williams can play on either wing and would provide strong competition for places for a starting role.

He has all the traits to become a world-class winger. His release clause is relatively low at £47 million but his salary is the main stumbling block.

He is already on £169,000 per week at Bilbao. The young winger could demand a substantial rise if he decides to pursue a new challenge abroad during the summer transfer window.

This has deterred many clubs from pursuing a deal for him. Arsenal could make a statement by securing his services ahead of other suitors, such as Chelsea and Barcelona.
