As goal-starved as Manchester United were in the Premier League last season, INEOS are expected to do everything necessary to upgrade Ruben Amorim’s attack.

Beyond securing Matheus Cunha, United plan to add a striker and a creative midfielder to revitalise their forward line.

Bryan Mbeumo and Liam Delap have been heavily linked with moves to Old Trafford.

While hopes remain for Mbeumo, Delap has made it clear he prefers a switch to Chelsea. That forces INEOS to look elsewhere.

With the Ipswich striker seemingly off their wishlist, who can United turn to?

According to Caught Offside, the Red Devils may shift their attention to Arsenal target Ademola Lookman.

The report suggests that United, eager for attacking reinforcements, are ready to compete in the race for the Nigerian international.

Arsenal reportedly value the Atalanta forward’s versatility, given his ability to operate across the frontline, as well as his relentless intensity.

That same dynamism could also benefit United.

Amorim is not just looking for a striker who will add goals. He wants someone who can inject intensity and urgency into his side.

With Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho linked with exits, United’s attack could suffer from a lack of pace. Lookman may provide the solution.

Beyond competition from the North London side, United may also face competition from Newcastle, Liverpool, and Juventus in their pursuit of the 2024 African Player of the Year.

Following an outstanding season in which he registered 20 goals and seven assists across 40 appearances, the 27-year-old could now be tempted to return to England to prove himself once again.

Lookman’s PL redemption

Lookman was once a promising prospect but struggled to fulfil his potential during spells with Everton, Leicester City and Fulham.

However, he is no longer the player he was back then.

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini recently explained (via Tribuna) Lookman’s evolution into a top-class talent:

“Lookman became a fantastic player when he improved his perception of the team. He used to have a more individual approach.”

Will United push for his signature and bring his revitalised talents back to English football? That remains to be seen.

Atalanta, on their part, have set their asking price at €60 million (£51 million) and will not accept less.

Ultimately, it may come down to which club wants him the most.
