Arsenal midfielder wins Sofascore World Impact Trophy | OneFootball

Arsenal captain Kim Little has been honoured with the Sofascore World Impact Trophy, adding yet another accolade to a career that has cemented her as one of the most distinguished players in women’s football.

The award, presented by Mundo Deportivo, acknowledges Little’s immense influence on the global game.

Widely regarded as one of the sport’s most complete players, Little’s reputation has been firmly established over her years of domestic and international success. Former US goalkeeper Hope Solo once remarked, “She is the footballer with the most quality that I have played against. She’s fantastic at everything. I think she has the best passing ability, the best game vision and the best technical ability in the world.”

The Scottish midfielder has worn the captain’s armband at Arsenal with distinction, and has represented the club more than 250 times. Little also earned 140 international caps (59 goals) for Scotland, featuring prominently at the London 2012 Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Games, as well as the 2019 World Cup in France.

Her journey spans elite leagues on three continents, winning titles in the FA WSL, FA Cup, A-League, and NWSL, where she was named both MVP and Golden Boot winner during her time in the United States.

In 2022, Little’s contributions to football earned her recognition beyond the pitch, as she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to the sport.

Upon receiving the award, Little said in a video message: “I would like to thank Mundo Deportivo for this award. It’s good to be recognised in another country for my impact on women’s football. So, a huge thank you for supporting women’s football.”

The trophy is a fitting tribute to a player whose quality, leadership, and achievements remain “unique and unrepeatable” in the modern game.

Mariona Caldentey wins award for final season at Barcelona

Mariona Caldentey received the Mundo Deportivo Special trophy for her last season at Barça, which was widely regarded as her best and saw her win the Primera Division, Champions League, Copa de la Reina de Futbol. She also won the Nations League with Spain.

Marta Corredera, former Arsenal and Spanish international, was also honoured with the Allianz Trajectory Trophy for her career and contributions to women’s football. The 33-year-old, who played for clubs including Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, as well as representing Spain in two World Cups and a Euros, received widespread applause for her achievements.

Corredera reflected on her career with pride, highlighting not only her on-field success but also her off-pitch efforts to advance the women’s game. Known for breaking barriers, championing equal opportunities, and addressing issues like motherhood in football, the Catalan remains a trailblazer, inspiring future generations of players.
