Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard is now likely to return to action from his ankle injury in November, according to Team News and Ticks on Patreon.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta revealed on Wednesday evening that some damage has occurred on one of the ligaments in Odegaard’s ankle, and Arsenal are set to lose him for a while.
Team News and Ticks – a Gunners account and insider – famous for leaking team news on the internet and followed by the likes of Dharmesh Sheth, David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano and Gary Jacobs on X (formerly Twitter), has been a trusted source concerning all things Arsenal, and he has revealed the latest concerning the Norway international.
The Gunners will now have to get creative in the middle of the park without their major creator-in-chief, and they cannot afford to keep playing like they did against Tottenham Hotspur until he returns.
Arsenal recorded just 36.3% ball possession against Spurs having had 35.8% possession against Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.
They largely played defensively against Tottenham and could struggle to sustain that approach against Atalanta tonight and Manchester City on Sunday.
Kai Havertz could be made to play in midfield behind a striker in Odegaard’s absence, while Raheem Sterling is also an option for the role.
Arsenal have to prove that they are not solely reliant on their captain to create chances, and while being without him until November will be a massive blow, they have the squad depth to manage his absence.
Arteta will do anything to keep winning, and he could be forced to change the playing style of his team until further notice as long as it yields the needed results.
