Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost in their pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko. According to Simon Collings, the Slovenians’ ‘preference and priority’ would be to continue playing his football in Europe despite approaches from Saudi clubs.
Two clubs from the Saudi Pro League have made approaches for Sesko in the past month but the 22-year-old, who scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances, has no intention of switching continent if he was to leave RB Leipzig this summer.
“At his age, he shouldn’t go. If someone from there is interested, it’s a form of recognition,” Slovenia manager Matjaz Kek told Nogomania, via The Standard.
Sesko has a contract with RB Leipzig until 2029 but is likely to depart the club after their failure to qualify for European football next season. As reported by our colleagues at Get German Football News, any potential suitor must pay the reported €80m exit clause.
