Arsenal fans have had plenty to say ahead of facing Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
The first leg is on Tuesday night at the Emirates, with then the second leg 29 days later at St James’ Park.
Some intriguing and very differing views from Arsenal fans, regarding tomorrow night’s match.
In terms of the likely result AND also, just how important (or not….) it is to reach Wembley in this competition.
Arsenal fans commenting via their Arsenal Mania message board:
‘We host the Geordies on Tuesday on the first leg of the semi final.
Team news is nwaneri is highly unlikely and sterling is out. For the Geordies Bruno and Scar are suspended.’
‘Very very important in the context of the season. Our most realistic trophy. We have to go for it. Throw everything in.
I think Arteta knows that as well looking at his demeanour on the touchline in the previous round.’
‘Pinning all our hopes on the energy drink cup. Wenger would be turning in his grave.’
‘2-0 to Newcastle.’
‘Most likely Gordon and Isak. Those two are on fire at the moment.’
‘Couldn’t care less about this fixture. Just hope the ankles and legs will stay intact on our players.
Please no Gabriel, Saliba or Timber for this.’
‘Really need a win because that second leg is going to be a joke.’
‘Why do we have two legs for this competition ffs?’
‘The Football League needs the money.’
‘Given the physical condition and form of both squads and the fact that none of our forwards seem to be fit I think we are second favourites to go through here.’
‘Newcastle in the cup is nothing to worry about.’
‘Have to play our strongest team, gooners 2 -1 win.’
‘Desperately want to smash this nasty team. Get the most favourable treatment from refs after 130charges fc so expect some frustrating decisions going against us.’
‘Our best chance of a trophy and people are turning their noses up. Nah, let’s fully go for this. We shouldn’t give up for the league but we really need to bring a trophy home this season. It is an absolute must.’
‘We can’t even rotate because our squad is too thin specially in attack.
Seeing us how tired we were last game I don’t know what to expect here Newcastle also coming into form and thier team is good. We likely gonna rest Partey one of Gab or Saliba maybe Calafiori
Don’t care about the outcome this is not PL or fa cup, just please no more injures, I’m sick and tired of it, winning this trophy but we might get other key players out for weeks is not worth it.’
‘Can’t see us scoring a goal let alone winning this one unless of course we get a corner, I think this willl be a draw or loss, probably 1-1/2-1 to newcatle, Isak to score both for them, bullet header, scrappy tap in for us.’
‘We can score we scored 10 goals last 4 games the issue here will be fitness can’t see us compete for 90 we have to rotate and when you rotate our levels gonna drop but we have no choice.’
‘My concern here is fitness of our players.
If we are able to field our Brentford side minus say Nwaneri, we’ll have enough to win this game despite all their shenanigans they bring tomorrow.’
‘We’ll see but i’m not confident, I just don’t trust any of our current attackers, either way as long as we don’t concede too early we can squeeze out a 1-0 win playing haramball which i can imagine will be the gameplan tommorow. Fitness/illness will play a part but honestly as long as we don’t get anymore injuries I will consider that a win personally.’
‘Newcastle are one of best teams at Haram ball so won’t be surprised if they score early they’ll win 1-0 or maybe just concede 1 and game will end 1-1 but it’s carabao cup really don’t care specially with state of our team can’t take more injures here.’
‘Tottenham and Newcastle both desperately need this trophy.
Which is why we need to knock them both out.’
‘Depending on the players available you sort have to hope for a Jover masterclass. Maybe we park the bus this one all the way to a trophy like we did with the FA Cup Mikel won.’
‘We’re at home, lets play some football for once.’
‘Counting all our misses like saka, white, possibly nwaneri etc.’
‘Unbelievable bad luck
We are gonna struggle to form a 11 soon.’
‘Nightmare season TBH.’
‘Still no havertz as well?
It’s gonna be
Martinelli Jesus Trossard
And it’s gonna be bad.’
‘They have to buy an attacker or we seriously might drop out from top 4 as well these injures not giving us any time to breath.’
‘I hadn’t a clue this match was tomorrow.’
‘We’re f…ed, no way we progress.’
‘Gonna have to grind out a result here, because it’s going to be very tough at Newcastle with our current attacking players.’
‘Is it time for a new formation (at least temporarily) to make up for the absences?’
‘Nope we have 4 attackers so nothing will change we gonna have to torture ourselves watching Martinelli as RW we only hope that Ødegaard back into some form to help him out also Timber stay fit.’
‘There’s no way we’re getting past Newcastle, we can barely field a team.’
‘Imagine the state of the squad by the time we play the second leg.’
