Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice are set to withdraw from England duty ahead of the international break later this week, according to Con Harrison.
The scout and Arsenal insider, who has been featured on the BBC and The Overlap and is followed by the likes of Ben Jacobs, Jacob Steinberg and Darren Lewis on X (formerly Twitter), claimed this evening that the duo will be pulling out of international duty after Three Lions interim managerLee Carsley invited them for the Nations League games against Greece and Ireland.
Saka and Rice could not finish the Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday evening, with the forward sustaining a knock while the midfielder played with the broken toe he sustained against Newcastle United last weekend.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after the match that they both told him they could not continue playing during the game, and it is only right that they get much-needed rest over the coming two weeks.
The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by the Blues at Stamford Bridge and are now without a win in their last four Premier League games following a draw against Liverpool and defeats to Bournemouth and Newcastle.
Arsenal will now hope both players are fit enough to return to action when the Premier League resumes on November 23.
They will be hosting Nottingham Forest before facing West Ham United, Manchester United and Fulham in the league afterwards, and they need to go on a winning run after finding themselves nine points behind league leaders Liverpool.
