Norwich City have sacked manager David Wagner, but they won’t be moving for Arsenal’s Carlos Cuesta, according to a report.

Following their embarrassing 4-0 play-off defeat to Leeds United, Norwich City are set for another season of Championship football, and they’ve made a speedy decision to relieve manager David Wagner of his duties.

Norwich sporting director and former Arsenal loan manager Ben Knapper is working on finding a replacement, and there had been links with Gunners assistant coach Carlos Cuesta earlier in the year.

But The Telegraph report that Cuesta is no longer understood to be under consideration. Liam Rosenior and Steve Cooper have been linked with the job instead.

Ed Aarons reported in February that Arsenal were expecting interest in Cuesta from Norwich City and other Championship teams at the end of the season.

The report suggested that Cuesta is rated as one of the world’s best young coaches, and he could be tempted by the chance to take his first managerial role.

But even then, the suggestion was that Arsenal were determined to resist any summer approaches for the coach. It seems Norwich are now looking elsewhere.

Cuesta isn’t Arteta’s only assistant, with the Arsenal manager working alongside a team of staff in the dugout.

Albert Stuivenberg and Miguel Molina both act as assistants to Arteta as well, with Nicolas Jover working on set-pieces, and Inaki Cana and Terry Mason as goalkeeping coaches. It looks like the team are sticking together for now.
