Arsenal are reportedly close to their first summer transfer in Espanyol goal keeper Joan Garcia.
The Gunners are assessing their options ahead of the 2024/25 season with Mikel Arteta looking to bolster his squad.
Spanish international David Raya is set to make his loan from Brentford into a permanent deal with Aaron Ramsdale tipped to move on.
Ramsdale’s departure would leave Arteta short of a back up option to first choice Raya, and Garcia has emerged as an option, as per the Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old was drafted into Espanyol’s starting XI in the second half of last season and played a key role in their promotion back to La Liga.
Garcia’s contract in Catalonia runs until 2028, and Espanyol will battle to keep him at the club, with Arsenal quoted in the region of £21m.
That fee is expected to be funded by the sale of Ramsdale to another Premier League team in the coming weeks.
