Christian Norgaard’s Arsenal shirt number has been confirmed following the announcement of his summer transfer.

Norgaard joins Arsenal from west London rivals Brentford in a deal worth £10m plus £2m in add-ons. He has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.

The experienced Denmark international will further bolster the Gunners’ midfield department which already includes Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino.

Now, Norgaard has been handed the No16 shirt at the Emirates Stadium. This shirt number had been vacant ever since Rob Holding departed for Crystal Palace two summers ago.

Aaron Ramsey, Mathieu Flamini, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Sylvinho and Stephen Hughes are among the previous owners of the Arsenal No16 shirt.

Norgaard had worn No6 throughout his time at Brentford and usually wears No15 for the Denmark national team.

Fellow Arsenal summer signings Kepa Arrizabalaga and Zubimendi have opted for No13 and No36 respectively after completing their moves.

Arsenal's summer business is expected to continue as Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta target several other key additions, including the signing of a top new winger and striker.

The Gunners have opened talks with Chelsea for Noni Madueke, having reportedly already agreed personal terms with the England international.
