Bayern Munich have reportedly named Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli on their shortlist of summer targets alongside a crop of world class talents.
The newly crowned German champions are looking to bolster their forward line after Leroy Sane joined Galatasaray as a free agent earlier this summer. They return to the drawing board after being pipped to Florian Wirtz’s signature by Liverpool, and have named a star-studded list of targets.
Martinelli, 24, is among their number. He joined the Gunners from third-tier Brazilian side Ituano for just £6million in 2019 and has become a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta, scoring eight goals and assisting four in 33 Premier League appearances last season.
Arsenal’s asking price for the player is not yet clear, though the Brazilian is not thought to be interested in leaving the club, with his contract not due to expire until 2027.
Speaking after scoring against Liverpool in May, he said he was happy with his role in the squad, playing both on the wing and deputising at striker. Arteta speaks highly of him too, describing him in January as a key member of his forward line.

BILD report AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, 26, is still generally considered the first choice, though talks with his camp have been on hold for over three weeks as some Bayern board members have second thoughts.
Liverpool pair Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have also been named as options. The pair were involved in 32 goals last season, and could join the summer Anfield exodus as Arne Slot looks to refresh his attack, with Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez also on the chopping block.
Chelsea target Jamie Gittens has been internally discussed, but the player is thought to favour a move to the Blues despite Borussia Dortmund already rejecting three offers for his services.
The Bavarians are patiently waiting to see the outcome of Barcelona’s move for Nico Williams. The Athletic Club winger is keen to join the club, though Bayern could hijack negotiations amid reports the Spaniards may not be able to afford the deal.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola has also been listed as a dream target, though a move is far from feasible. He is valued at £60m, though the French champions have no intention of selling.
Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl has left the Club World Cup camp early, returning to Munich to help expedite a deal for a new forward.
The Bavarians’ campaign in the United States has gone off without a hitch thus far. They hit amateur side Auckland City for 10 in their opening tie, before beating Boca Juniors 2-1 to all but confirm their progression from the group stage.
