Arsenal are assessing three centre-forward options as Mikel Arteta looks to sign a striker before the transfer deadline.
The North Londoners want to bring in a forward this month to combat injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
“We have very clear ideas of the players that we want, yes,” Arteta said earlier this month.
“It was before Gabi and it was with Gabi injured right now and we have to wait and see how things develop.”
Benjamin Sesko remains the leading target for the Gunners after a failed summer pursuit. However, RB Leipzig are reluctant to sanction Sesko’s sale mid-season.
The German side value the 21-year-old – who has scored 13 goals in 25 appearances this season – at around £67m.
According to Ben Jacobs, Brighton forward Evan Ferguson is also of interest. The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with an exit from the AMEX Stadium in search of more regular football. A loan deal for Ferguson is complicated by Arsenal having already filled their quota of two Premier League loans.
Raheem Sterling’s loan from Chelsea has no break clause this month, so back-up goalkeeper Neto would need to be sent back to Bournemouth – or Ferguson signed on a permanent deal.
The 20-year-old has started just two Premier League games for Brighton this season, having failed to reclaim his place in the side after injury. However, Ferguson is a highly-rated talent and several of the Premier League’s top clubs are monitoring his situation.
The third forward on Arsenal’s radar is Botafogo’s Igor Jesus. The 23-year-old scored eight goals in 31 games as Botafogo won The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and Copa Libertadores in 2024. Previously, he scored 46 goals in 92 games for UAE outfit Shabab Al Ahli. Jesus made his Brazil debut in October and marked the occasion with a goal against Chile in World Cup qualification.
