Arsenal have taken a big step towards signing Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, as they have agreed personal terms with the winger, per The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The Gunners have not started negotiations with the West Londoners, but could make a move soon for the 23-year-old.
The two clubs enjoy good relations, having already done business this summer with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga leaving Chelsea to join Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal have been looking to sign a backup for Bukayo Saka and believe Madueke to be a good fit.
The England international was a key member of Enzo Maresa’s team last season, scoring 11 goals in 41 games across all competitions.
Madueke joined Chelsea in a €33m deal from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, and has gone on to make 91 appearances, with 20 goals and nine assists to his name.
The forward is contracted until 2030, but the club are open to selling him for €58m.
Chelsea are under pressure to make sales after Uefa fined them €31 million and a further €60m conditionally for breaching its financial rules.
The London club would not be allowed to register new signings in European competitions unless they can show they have generated a cost saving with sale of players against acquisitions (The Guardian).
Besides Madueke, they are also open to offers for Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix and Raheem Sterling.
Manchester United have expressed interest in Nkunku, but Chelsea could struggle to offload Felix and Sterling due to their struggles last season.
