Manchester United winger Antony’s exit is one of the biggest topics of the summer for the club.
The Red Devils are keen to add a striker and a goalkeeper after completing a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
With Marcus Rashford sealing a move to FC Barcelona and Jadon Sancho reportedly close to a deal with Juventus, some movement is finally being made.
One player who the Red Devils are also keen to sell is Antony, who impressed so much at Real Betis last season.
The Andalusian side have been seen as frontrunners to do a deal for the Brazilian winger.
Erik ten Hag has already ruled out his Bayer Leverkusen side from making an approach for the player.
In addition, Betis have been keen to tie up a deal and have been in negotiations for weeks with United to try and find a solution.
So far, they have been unable to come to an agreement but have discussed creative solutions such as paying the fee in two instalments or getting involved in a part ownership scheme to ease a transfer.
What is clear is that United would prefer a straight sale and there seems to be a new side emerging who could meet these requirements.
The I paper report that “Antony has several potential exit routes. Had Real Betis been able to find the money – a bid upwards of £30m is expected to be enough – they would have already brought Antony back to Seville, after the Brazilian starred for the La Liga club on loan last season.”
Nonetheless, this has been an issue and has left the door open for their league rivals.
The outlet states that “Betis continue to try and raise funds, but several sources in Spain told The i Paper Atletico Madrid are emerging as favourites to sign Antony.”
There had been reports earlier in the spring that Atletico had interest in the winger and perhaps they have sensed an opportunity to enter the fray as Betis continue to stall on a deal.
