Real Betis are continuing their efforts to re-sign Antony from Manchester United, but time is running out for both them and the player – each of whom are desperate to be reunited.
Throughout this week, Betis have had a delegation in England attempting to reach an agreement with Man United. A second offer was made on Monday, after which talks have been ongoing. And it had appeared that a breakthrough had been reached, with The Athletic (via CaughtOffside) reporting that the two clubs agreed on a permanent deal for the 25-year-old winger.
Betis and Man United had come to an agreement on a package worth €28m, which would see the Premier League side retain a 50% sell-on clause. However, it appears that this is not the case, with Los Verdiblancos coming out soon after to release a statement on the matter (via Fabrizio Romano).
“There is no agreement for Antony and we have withdrawn the offer. We can’t afford the fee and the amounts that Manchester United must instead pay the player before the transfer.”

There are now only three days to go until the summer transfer window comes to a close, but there is still plenty to be done to ensure that Antony can return to Betis. The Brazil international is prioritising a return to the Benito Villamarin, but he – as well as the two clubs – much reach a compromise to ensure that a deal is done.
It remains to be seen how this one plays out. Betis have put all of their eggs in one basket, as they are determined to bring back Antony after his outstanding spell during the second half of last season. But as of right now, no agreement is in place.
