Antony says he does not know “what will happen in the future” ahead of his return to Man United.
The Brazil international has underwhelmed since joining the Red Devils from Ajax for €95 million (£82m) on a five-year contract in 2022.
Antony scored just five Premier League goals in his first two seasons at Old Trafford, although he did pick up League Cup and FA Cup winner’s medals.
Following Ruben Amorim’s appointment as manager last November, the 25-year-old made just two starts, both in cup competitions, before being loaned out to Real Betis in January.
Antony impressed immediately after completing the move, registering four goal involvements over his first four La Liga appearances.
Although he failed to maintain that level of return in the league, contributing to seven goals by the end of the season, he did help the club finish sixth in the table and played a key role in their run to the Uefa Conference League final. The winger had seven goal involvements in eight starts in the competition, including two goals in each of their semi-final win over Fiorentina, before losing the decider 4-1 to Chelsea on Wednesday.
Speaking after the match, Antony said he was “happy” at Betis, but does not know if he will return to the Spanish outfit next season. He will return to Man United now that his loan stint has ended, but is expected to leave the club this summer.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future, only God knows,” he said.
“My work is playing and I’m doing that well. I have a lot of affection for Betis, for everyone but I have a contract with Man United and I don’t know what’s going to happen, only they know what’s happening.
“Now I will go to the national team and then on holiday then we will see what happens in the future.
“I’m very happy here, everyone knows that. I went to sleep and I woke up happy but I have a contract and I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Villareal, along with Betis, have all been linked with a permanent deal for Antony.
