Anthony Gordon was such a big player for Newcastle United last season.
The 2023/24 campaign seeing the winger getting double figures in terms of Premier League goals AND the same with Premier League assists.
No wonder Anthony Gordon was named Newcastle United player of the season.
Not just for those wonderful direct goal involvement stats, but also for his all round play, causing havoc match after match down that left hand side.
This season I think fair to say Anthony Gordon has started a bit more slowly for Newcastle United, probably no surprise with the very short pre-season he had, due to sitting on the bench for England all summer.
However, after a couple of weeks of club action, the former Everton winger showed quantity with England in their two September internationals.
No surprise then to really see Anthony Gordon with his mojo back on Sunday with Newcastle United.
As the Sky Sports commentary said during that first half, the Newcastle United star had Semedo ‘on toast’ as the Wolves defender and his teammates couldn’t handle Anthony Gordon.
The run when Gordon cut through the Wolves defence and hit the post, was exhilarating.
The referee was an absolute disgrace though in that first half, Wolves players lining up to cynically foul Gordon, but the useless ref refusing to book them.
Anyway, this very revealing table from The Other 14 proves just how devastating Anthony Gordon was with his dribbling in that first half especially, only one Premier League player this weekend with more successful dribbles than the NUFC winger.
