Angers set for Ligue 1 return after securing promotion | OneFootball

Angers SCO have confirmed their place in Ligue 1 for the 2024/25 season after they secured promotion to the French top flight on the final day of the Ligue 2 season. Le SCO were battling with Saint Étienne for the final automatic promotion spot in the last round of matches in the French second division after Auxerre already confirmed their promotion by winning the league title.

The Ligue 2 club confirmed their promotion to Ligue 1 with a 0-0 draw against Dunkerque. Les Verts had to better the result of Angers to secure promotion back to the French first division but were unsuccessful as they were defeated 2-1 by Quevilly-Rouen. Saint Étienne will now have to navigate the relegation playoffs if they are to be promoted back to Ligue 1.

Incredible scenes could be seen as the full-time whistle was blown at the Stade Raymond Kopa and promotion was confirmed. Fans of Angers poured onto the pitch in jubilation to celebrate knowing they would be witnessing Ligue 1 football next season.
