Juventus manager Thiago Motta has warned Manchester City that left-back Andrea Cambiaso was not interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium last month.
After Kyle Walker's departure to AC Milan, City ramped up their search for a replacement and set their sights on the versatile Cambiaso, who is a natural left-back but is equally as comfortable on the right side of defence.
A bid of €65m (£54.4m) was reported to have arrived but ultimately led to nothing, although City are expected to reignite their pursuit of the 24-year-old in the summer.
Quizzed on Cambiaso's future, Motta insisted he only has eyes for Juventus at the minute.
"I'm happy he stayed with a great team like Juventus," Motta said. "I think he always had the idea of staying."
City spent big on their defence in January, signing Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis for just over £60m combined, while forward Omar Marmoush and midfielder Nico Gonzalez also joined to take City's spending to close to £180m.
Full-back is expected to be their next area of reinforcement but Juventus are prepared to stand firm over Cambiaso, whose contract in Turin runs until 2029.
