Carlo Ancelotti’s time at Real Madrid will officially come to an end after the 2024/25 season, as the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has now confirmed that the Italian will take over as the new head coach of Brazil.

His exit not only signals the end of an era at the Santiago Bernabeu but has also set in motion a fascinating domino effect across several clubs in Europe.

With his chapter closing, the club is now preparing for a generational shift on the bench, and all signs now point to Xabi Alonso returning to Madrid to take the reins.

The beginning of a chain reaction

With Alonso heading to Spain, Leverkusen will need a suitable replacement, and according to German media, it has been learned that the frontrunner is none other than Cesc Fabregas.

Currently in charge of the Italian side Como, the Spaniard has made impressive strides as a young coach and is now being considered to step into Alonso’s shoes.

The connection between the two former Spain teammates and midfield maestros only adds another layer of intrigue to the potential appointment.

What will Como do?

Should Fabregas make the move to Germany, Como are preparing their own contingency plan. According to reports in Italy, the Serie A club is looking to maintain its Spanish influence and could offer the head coaching position to Davide Ancelotti, a long-time assistant at Real Madrid.

Davide, who has been part of his father’s backroom staff during successful spells at Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid, could finally step into a managerial role of his own at Como.

Interestingly, if Davide Ancelotti turns down the offer, as there is also an interest from Rangers, Alvaro Arbeloa is another candidate being considered.

Arbeloa is currently coaching in Real Madrid’s youth system and is regarded as a promising future coach within the club’s internal hierarchy. His leadership and understanding of the Madrid style make him a strong contender to take over at Como if needed.
