Earlier this week, reports emerged confirming that Brazil national team manager Carlo Ancelotti had decided not to call up Real Madrid megastar Vinicius Jr. for their upcoming games.

The Selecao are scheduled to play Chile and Bolivia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers in September.

Vinicius is suspended for the first game and as such Ancelotti decided it would be best for the player to not travel for just one match.

As such, the Real Madrid forward was left out of the preliminary squad list by the Italian, although both Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao were included.

Militao unlikely to be called up either

However, now, according to Jose Luis Sanchez on El Chiringuito TV, Ancelotti is set to exclude Eder Militao from the Brazil squad for the upcoming games against Chile and Bolivia as well.

The 27-year-old defender has only recently returned to action after spending most of the last season out on the sidelines due to an ACL injury.

It was the second injury of the same nature in two years for Militao, but having made his return at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, the centre-back has generated positive feelings with his performances.

However, it appears that Ancelotti is of the opinion that the former FC Porto defender needs more time under his belt before returning to the national team fold.

As such, the former Real Madrid boss is now expected to leave Militao out of the Brazil squad for their matches next month.

So, it would mean that Rodrygo will be the only player from the Spanish capital club to be called up, although that could also change if he does not get any minutes under Xabi Alonso. Endrick, meanwhile, is out injured and is not in contention for a call-up.
