Real Madrid managed to keep up the pressure on Barcelona at the top of the league table with a narrow 2-1 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday.

It was not the best of performances from Los Blancos, who started the game slow and had to rely on a second-half goal from Vinicius Junior to seal three points.

Ancelotti was furious at half-time

Despite the scoreline being in Real Madrid’s favor at halftime, thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappe, Carlo Ancelotti was far from pleased with what he witnessed on the pitch at Balaidos, reports MARCA.

The Italian could not hide his frustration at the lack of organization and intensity from his players.

As per the report, Ancelotti delivered a stern dressing down to his squad, demanding an immediate improvement in their attitude and tactical discipline.

The disarray in Real Madrid’s midfield, particularly involving Tchouameni, Camavinga, and Militao, caused serious mismatches in marking, leading to unnecessary loss of possession.

Ancelotti was baffled by the team’s lack of cohesion. The players’ lethargy on the ball and failure to stick to the game plan drew a rare show of anger from the coach.

Improvements in the second half

Ancelotti’s half-time dressing down seemed to have an impact on the team, as their performance improved considerably in the second half.

However, the performance was still not up to the mark, despite Vinicius scoring the winner in the 66th minute.

Ancelotti remained unsatisfied with the overall display, particularly the lack of understanding regarding the three-man central defence, a formation change forced by Dani Carvajal’s injury.

Ancelotti’s dissatisfaction was evident in his post-match speech, where the Italian stressed the importance of improving Real Madrid’s game.
