Noni Madueke is one to watch this summer and it’s unclear what Chelsea want to do with the winger according to Fabrizio Romano.

Madueke is currently part of Chelsea’s squad for the Club World Cup, and is preparing for the last 16 tie against Benfica on Saturday evening.

The Blues are looking to bring a winger in with Madueke, Pedro Neto and Tyrique George the only wingers in the squad currently.

Noni Madueke one to watch this summer

The departure of Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk’s suspension has left Chelsea short in the wide areas, although they are said to be close to reaching an agreement for Jamie Gittens.

Estevao Willian will arrive after the Club World Cup, but it’s not entirely clear if Chelsea will sign one or two wingers given Geovany Quenda will arrive from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2026.

Madueke improved hugely under Enzo Maresca last season and scored 7 Premier League goals and registered four assists.

However, it might come as surprise to some that he could leave this summer, and Madueke is said to be attracting interest from Arsenal.

The 23-year-old arrived from Dutch side PSV Eindhioven in January 2023, and it’s believed Chelsea would be open to offers for the England international.

Given how short of wingers Chelsea are, selling Madueke wouldn’t make a lot of sense, and Romano has provided an update on his future.

“Noni Madueke is an open story this summer,” he told his YouTube channel.

“I’m not saying that he is for sale because he’s an important player for Chelsea, part of the rotation for Maresca. But let’s see what happens in terms of proposals. Arsenal is discussing him.

“It’s not clear what Chelsea want to do with him. The situation is one to watch.”

Chelsea very close to Jamie Gittens deal

Whilst it’s not entirely certain if Madueke will be at Chelsea next season, one player who likely will be is Dortmund winger Gittens.

Chelsea are thought to be very close to reaching an agreement with Dortmund for the 20-year-old after having a £42m bid rejected earlier this month.

Gittens has agreed personal terms on a seven year contract, and Dortmund are said to be holding out for their €65m asking price.
