Ibrox Noise announces, officially, that we are now a gamble-free website, that will not promote any form of betting or gambling where we have the power to do so.

As regulars will know, Ibrox Noise has had a betting and gamble-free policy for some considerable years, but every now and then we had to let one or two betting and gambling or casino promotions through.

As of today, where possible, we will not endorse any form of gambling, including casino – we do not endorse Rangers’ shirt sponsorships in any form and while we understand the club requiring revenue streams, we would be much happier if Rangers (and other clubs) could find a sponsor not promoting one of the worst addictions in the UK.

Ibrox Noise isn’t in the market of preaching, we do not want to impress our ideologies on you, but it’s hard to find any defence of gambling – of course, there are those who will put a flutter on now and then, and have control completely over how much they spend. This policy and statement isn’t aimed at them.

It’s aimed at the notion of those whose lives are being ruined by gambling, the marriages wrecked and families, the lives lost, and we’re sick of betting companies having this much exposure and power.

It’s the new smoking – with gambling ads all over shirts and stadiums, we’d very much like it outlawed in the way smoking has more or less ended up being.

It’s the silent disease in the UK.

And we’d fed up with it.
