The Reds survive a scare against Norwegian opposition in the Europa League as Rasmus Hojlund completed a brace in Manchester United’s 3-2 win.

Hojlund’s brace ensured Ruben Amorim’s first home match ended in victory.

The 39-year-old was named Erik ten Hag’s successor at the start of November and United drew his first game 1-1 against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

United’s chance to get their first win under Amorim came on Thursday night and they made hard work of it, beating Bodo/Glimt 3-2 at Old Trafford.

In their second Europa League win of the season, Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring after 58 seconds.

Hojlund, who scored two goals on the night, also played a hand in Garnacho’s opener and explained how the new head coach instructed him how to work off the ball without taking much notice of those behind him.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Hojlund opened up on how Amorim is playing a system he is familiar with from his time at Atalanta in Serie A.

You can tell from Hojlund’s post-match interview that he is buzzing after tonight’s performance, but a bit regretful that it took a comeback.

Amorim needs to set on his preferred striker option and Hojlund has so far given him more to think about than Marcus Rashford.

That said, I love having competition for places so long as it’s benefiting the team and both players have scored goals under the new head coach.

Tyrell Malacia completes 45 minutes on comeback

Tyrell Malacia returned from long-term injury and played 45 minutes in United’s win tonight.

Although his mistake led to Bodo/Glimt’s second goal, Malacia did well considering his long layoff from injury and it was positive to see him back on the pitch.

The Netherlands international was selected in the starting line-up by Amorim. It was his first appearance for the Reds in 550 days.
