Alphonso Davies addresses Real Madrid rumours after scoring at Bernabeu | OneFootball

It is no secret at this point that Real Madrid are seriously interested in signing Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich in the summer.

The Canadian left-back has been identified as a key target by the Merengues’ recruitment department and groundwork has been laid for a deal.

With Davies’ contract at Bayern Munich expiring next year, Real Madrid hope to sign the versatile defender for a reasonable fee in the summer.

In fact, it has even been suggested that there may be a verbal agreement over personal terms between the two parties.

Alphonso Davies addresses future

Last night, Real Madrid got a good look at what Alphonso Davies can do as he scored a wonder-goal at the Santiago Bernabeu, almost ensuring Bayern Munich’s victory in the Champions League semi-finals.

A late brace from Joselu spoiled the party for the Canadian ace and his team, with Real Madrid prevailing in the end to book a place in the Wembley finals.

Davies was seen exchanging words with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti after the full-time whistle at the Santiago Bernabeu last night.

After the match, Davies was asked about the rumours linking him to Real Madrid and whether he will be playing at the Santiago Bernabeu next season. In response, he said (h/t Fabrizio Romano):

“Will I play here at the Bernabéu next? Right now, my agent is talking to Bayern. Whatever happens, I’m very grateful to Bayern.”

Real Madrid happy to wait until 2025

It must be noted that even though Real Madrid are eager to sign Alphonso Davies in the summer, negotiations with Bayern Munich might not be straightforward.

As such, Los Blancos are prepared to wait until 2025 to sign the speedster when he will become a free agent.
