While the situation is far more complex than many are claiming, the reality is that Alexander Isak is unlikely to go anywhere if Newcastle aren't able to find sufficient attacking replacements for him.
It's been rumoured that Yohan Wissa's move from Brentford is close and Chelsea's Nicholas Jackson is said to be on the move this summer, with the Magpies potentially considering making an approach.

But until something more concrete develops, we're likely to be stuck in a similar slump with Isak.

Prior to signing Hugo Ekitike, the Reds offered him to Newcastle in exchange for the Swede, but there was no encouragement that such a deal could work and so the Frenchman moved to Anfield.
Furthermore, we could've seen a lot more movement on Isak if Benjamin Sesko had picked Newcastle instead of Manchester United, but the Red Devils successfully snatched him away.
Now we're having to scramble until the Saudi PIF get their recruitment business in order.
Alongside Jackson and Wissa, it appears as though a few more feelers have been sent out.
A report from John Percy at The Telegraph claims Newcastle have strong interest in Leicester's Bilal El Khannouss, a young attacking midfielder who has a release clause in his contract.
This would certainly streamline the negotiating process and he would bolster their forward options.
It must be said that several other Premier League clubs are interested in a possible deal, so the Magpies won't have a free run at him, but if Eddie Howe is conceived by him, then you never know.
In addition, L'Equipe are reporting that striker Arnaud Kalimuendo could sign in England in the coming days, with Brentford and Newcastle in talks. The slight caveat to this deal is that Brentford are more advanced, although this would make sense if Newcastle's move for Wissa is getting closer.
So we're looking at two potential deals that would certainly bring Isak closer to joining Liverpool.
Whether any of them go through is still to be seen, Howe and his PIF bosses have struggled to get their targets over the line this summer, but you'd expect them to catch a break sooner or later.
As such, we might start to see a little but more movement on Isak in the coming days now that some new targets are being considered by Newcastle to replace him, and while we've not been given the all clear, it appears as though everything else would fall into place once the green light is signalled.
