Midfielder Kristjan Asllani is favourite to start for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash with Torino.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908. The outlet also report that Carlos Augusto will likely start on the left flank.

This season, Asllani has taken a few steps to having a more important role at Inter.

As with last campaign, the Albanian international has largely been a substitute rather than a regular starter.

This is hardly surprising considering that Hakan Calhanoglu is ahead of Asllani in the pecking order.

Calhanoglu has arguably been one of Inter’s two or three outstanding players over the campaign so far.

However, Asllani has had his opportunities. Particularly with the departure of Marcelo Brozovic last summer, the former Empoli man has gotten the chance to prove himself.

Asllani scored his first ever goal for Inter last month, in a win over Genoa.

That came in a starting appearance, during a run of matches that the Albanian started whilst Hakan Calhanoglu was out with an injury.

Asllani certainly impressed with his performance during that run.

Moreover, the 22-year-old also started in place of Calhanoglu whilst the Turk was suspended for a Serie A match away to Fiorentina in January.

Asllani more than played his part in a 1-0 victory, putting in a gritty and mature display.

There was also Asllani’s impact off the bench in a Serie A win over Roma in October.

Therefore, the signs have been positive from Asllani. But these moments have still be relatively few and far between.

The Albanian could get a few more chances over the remaining five matches of the season, however.

Inter have already clinched the Serie A title. That will give coach Simone Inzaghi the chance to hand players like Asllani a bit more playing time in the run-in.

Moreover, Calhanoglu has been virtually an ever-present in the Inter team this season. Therefore, he could get a rest over the final matches of the campaign.

According to FCIN1908, Asllani is the favourite to start against Torino tomorrow. Calhanoglu, on the other hand, will drop to the bench.
