Alassane Pléa’s exit clause nears expiry as Lille turn attention towards Hamza Igamane | OneFootball

Alassane Pléa’s Borussia Mönchengladbach future remains in the balance. According to Kicker, the Frenchman has a release clause in his contract that is valid until June 30. Lille have shown previous interest in signing the 32-year-old but have yet to make any approach with the French side working on a deal to sign Rangers’ Hamza Igamane.

As reported earlier in the month, Pléa – who is Gladbach’s record signing at €23m – would be willing to accept a pay cut to remain at Bundesliga club, where he has played for the last seven seasons. The Frenchman has also proved his worth to Gerardo Seoane with 11 goals and four assists in 30 league appearances last season for die Fohlen, making him the second-best player in terms of goal contributions behind Tim Kleindienst.

If no club activates Pléa’s exit clause prior to June 30, then it’s likely that the Frenchman will remain at Gladbach beyond the summer. With a market value of €5m, per Transfermarkt, the Bundesliga club would likely command a fee in excess of the reported release clause, which could put any potential suitor off.
