L’Équipe reported earlier on Friday that, before making a decision on his next club, Paul Pogba (32) was awaiting an offer from Saudi Arabia. Foot Mercato now report that Al-Ittihad hold a strong interest in the Frenchman.
Pogba has been permitted to return to football since March after his four-year doping ban was cut to 18 months. However, despite being allowed to return to the pitch, he has yet to find a new club. Olympique de Marseille have been incessantly linked with a move for the former Manchester United and Juventus man, who is available on a free transfer. However, it is instead their Ligue 1 rivals, AS Monaco, who made the first move.
The Principality club have been in talks with the midfielder for a fortnight, and whilst negotiations between the player and the club are ongoing and there is optimism at Monaco, he has seemingly been holding out for another offer, specifically one from Saudi Arabia.
That offer could come from Al-Ittihad. However, for now, an official approach has not been made as the club don’t have someone occupying the sporting director role. There have, nonetheless, been preliminary contacts made.
