Following their recent elimination from the MTN8, Mamelodi Sundowns captain Ronwen Williams has acknowledged that the team’s spirits are low ahead of their upcoming match against Kaizer Chiefs. The side suffered a painful semi-final exit at the hands of Orlando Pirates after a penalty shootout defeat.
Despite the disappointment, Williams emphasized the importance of not dwelling on the loss for too long. The squad has made it a rule to quickly refocus, especially with a challenging league encounter approaching. Kaizer Chiefs currently hold a perfect record, adding further urgency to Sundowns' need to regroup.

Williams admitted, “It’s obviously not a good space to be in right now — you can see the guys are still a bit down.” However, he stressed the importance of channeling their emotions positively as they prepare for the crucial fixture.
“The mood is not one of the best. Obviously, we had big objectives to start the campaign on a positive note, which is to go all the way in the MTN8, but it wasn’t to be. We just have to dust ourselves off and go again." Williams concluded.
