Inter are concerned with the fitness of their centre-back Francesco Acerbi, whose repeated injuries are persuading the Nerazzurri to make a concrete move in January for Udinese’s Jaka Bijol.

Acerbi was subbed off after 15 minutes in his side’s Serie A game at Verona last weekend after picking up his second injury in the space of a few weeks, as he had already missed three matches in all competitions before returning to the pitch against Napoli.

The Nerazzurri confirmed on Monday that the defender sustained a strain to his right thigh, and although medical exams ruled out severe injuries, they are worried that the 36-year-old’s fitness could cause more problems in the future, which is why they are considering bringing him a reliable replacement in the upcoming transfer window.

Inter considering January move for Bijol after Acerbi’s repeated injuries

The Biscione were already reportedly interested in Bijol for next summer but could move ahead of schedule and try to secure him in January, as reported by Tuttosport.

However, Udinese already made it clear that they wouldn’t be open to selling the 25-year-old during the winter transfer market, which is why Inter would try to make them change their mind by including the loan of youngster Tomas Palacios in the deal, allowing him to get more playing time and adapt to Italian football.

Bijol is a key player in Kosta Runjaić’s Udinese, having started all their 13 Serie A games so far, always remaining on the pitch for 90 minutes.
