Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim saw some positive in his team’s 2-2 thrilling draw against Liverpool, but names one aspect he’s now going to tolerate.

The Red Devils exceeded all expectations by putting up a solid showing at Anfield and even managing to score their first goal on the ground in more than six years.

The visitors were riding a three-match losing streak in the Premier League that saw them plummet to the 14th spot, and by all accounts, a defeat at the hands of the runaway league leaders was on the cards.

Nevertheless, Man Utd produced what was arguably their most solid showing this season, thus leaving Merseyside with a point in the bag.

After the match, Amorim was asked about the team’s lack of character in previous fixtures, and the manager insisted that he and his players must never accept this label.

“That should be a big issue for our players that even one person thinks you have the ability but not the character, we have to fight that and change that,” said Amorim in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.

“I think it is really clear. When we are focused, when we fight for every ball, when we suffer and we are tired when the game is finished, we are a good team. If we don’t do that all the time then we are going to lose games. That is clear to everybody.”

The 39-year-old felt his team put up a good display against the league leaders and even managed to control the action at times.

“We controlled very well the tempo of the game. Every time Liverpool had a chance, we controlled and had the ball for a moment. That makes a difference.

“You could see in the game, it was not like we are not suffering all the time because we controlled the ball, sometimes winning some fouls, controlling the transitions. It was a good game.”
