Chelsea booked their place in the UEFA Conference League with a victory over FC Copenhagen in the second leg of the round of 16. On Thursday night, the home side defeated their opponents 1-0 thanks to a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall goal to progress 3-1 on aggregate. In the last eight, they will face Polish side Legia Warszawa. Here are some key takeaways from the match.
Once again, Chelsea's first-half performance did not match their second. Last week in Denmark, the Blues managed only two shots in the entire first half. On Thursday, they did not manage even one.
For most of the first half, Copenhagen looked like the more comfortable side. Chelsea players struggled to string together even a proper pass. There were a lot of half-hearted attempts from the players, and Enzo Maresca's side cannot continue playing like that.
In the second half, things did improve. The home side registered 11 shots overall, with five on target. Chelsea will need the same level of effort from the second half, at a minimum, if they are to return from the Emirates with something this weekend against Arsenal in the Premier League.
