Keen for him to test his resolve in a different setup away from Old Trafford, Manchester United are scouring the market for Antony’s potential suitors.
It’s now evident that, as expected, the Brazilian will continue playing a reduced role under Ruben Amorim. The fact that he had fallen out of favour with Erik ten Hag, who actively pushed for United to sign him, in the last year of his tenure only confirmed that Antony’s United career was approaching its end.
Since Amorim succeeded the Dutchman in November, Antony has yet to make a Premier League start. He was deployed from the off only twice thus far – Amorim’s first Europa League clash against Bodø/Glimt and the Carabao Cup quarter-final vs Tottenham Hotspur. He has featured for merely 57 minutes in total in the league.

His agent, Junior Pedroso, spoke out last month to try and clarify some of the speculation surrounding his player’s future, revealing that, while United hadn’t expressed any desire to sell the 24-year-old, the door was open for a loan move if all parties agreed it would be the most beneficial option.
“If the club thinks it would be a good idea to loan Antony out in January so he can get more minutes and regain his trust, we will work together on that option,” said Pedroso. “Otherwise, Antony is working hard to regain his place and show his best skills under the new coach Ruben Amorim.”
In line with that, CaughtOffside now claims that the winger has been offered out to a host of clubs. Real Betis had already established their interest in recent weeks, while Ajax, Benfica and Newcastle United have all been contacted by INEOS’ transfer chiefs to try and gauge whether they’d like to take the out-of-favour player on board.
