The performances put forth by Real Madrid stars Raúl Asencio and Arda Güler served as a timely reminder to head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Real of course marked their return to action earlier this evening, making the trip to Leganés for a La Liga derby clash.
When all was said and done, Los Blancos marched to the right side of a 3-0 result, courtesy of goals on the part of all of Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham.
And, en route to as much, both of the aforementioned Asencio and Güler played starring roles.
The latter, on his first-ever senior start, looked completely at home at the heart of Real Madrid’s backline, stout in his defending, and impressively composed on the ball.
Attacker Güler, meanwhile, dazzled in an inverted role on the right flank, conjuring up a host of moments of individual brilliance.
Both looked fully at home in the Spanish champions’ XI, combining with their more high-profile teammates to superb effect.
And, in the process, Asencio and Güler sent something of a reminder to boss Carlo Ancelotti.
So often hesitant to lean on youth in favour of more experienced options, the pair, 21 and 19 respectively, are more than ready to play their part under Ancelotti over the weeks and months to come.
