Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confirmed that the Rossoneri have now decided to move on from pursuing the signature of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Milan were heavily linked with a move for the Dutchman, whose agent Kia Joorabchian demanded a huge commission after an initial deal was agreed. This led to Milan backing away from the move and Manchester United entered the race, now having all but sealed the deal for the striker.

With United’s move now coming closer, Paulo Fonseca was presented as the club’s manager today and Ibrahimovic was present at the occasion. He was asked about Milan’s move for Zirkzee (via MilanNews) and he stated:

“There is nothing done. The option of signing Zirkzee has passed. We have one player in mind, but I will not say the name.”

Ibrahimovic was also asked about the agent demands of Joorabchian and whether that led to the move falling through, with the Swede saying:

“This is part of football. Reality and rumours are two different things. There are agents who solve problems and agents who create problems. In this case it was neither. The rumours that were going around were not the same as reality. We have an idea for the attack, we hope it comes in as quickly as possible.”

He also denied naming the player that Milan would sign, but the club have been linked with Alvaro Morata in recent weeks.
