Zielinski: ‘Thanks Napoli’ also for ‘not insulting’ before Inter transfer | OneFootball

Poland international Piotr Zielinski wrote a heartfelt letter to Napoli and their fans before a free transfer to Inter thanking the Partenopei for ‘not insulting’ him when he decided to leave.

Zielinski met his Napoli teammates on Monday to celebrate his 30th birthday.

He has probably already made his final appearance with the Partenopei. Due to a calf injury, he missed the last four matches and is not expected to return in time for Sunday’s final league fixture against Lecce at the Stadio Maradona.

The Poland midfielder will join Inter on a free transfer this summer.

As Alfredo Pedullà reported, Zielinski wrote a letter and read it in front of his teammates during the party on Monday.

“Napoli, I’d like to thank you for all you did for me,” the midfielder wrote.

“My family and I have never felt as safe as here and I will forever remember all the nice things and the amazing people I’ve met in Naples.

“You are extraordinary people, and you can be proud of that. I will always admire your mentality,” the 30-year-old continued.

“I will never forget your support and your friendship. Thanks to you, I’ve reached all I could in our club. With you, we fought in important games and lived through unbelievable emotions. You are the best fans I could ever have. You showed me how nice the football world can be.

“Here, I became a man, a leader and the father of my son. My wife and I are grateful for all that happened to us here. Your hospitality and openness are something everyone must learn from. Thanks for your support. You are my friends. Now it’s time to celebrate and have fun together. You are extraordinary people and I’ve learned to know, love and admire you.

“I like your mentality which you can be proud of. Thank you because nobody has ever insulted me after my decision to change the team. It means a lot to me. The successes we have achieved with our club reflect my dreams.”

Zielinski joined Napoli in a €16m deal from Udinese in 2016 and has won one Coppa Italia and a historic Serie A title with the Partenopei.

The Polish midfielder scored 51 goals and provided 46 assists in 364 appearances with the Serie A giants.

He has already decided to join Inter at the end of his contract in June and will be one of the first two new signings for the defending Serie A champions, joining Mehdi Taremi.
